Thanksgiving Service Trip

With Thanksgiving coming up quickly and Christmas right around the corner, Hands For Hope is in the mood to give early this year. This Thanksgiving break from November 23rd through the 30th, our President Chris Schrage and two volunteer families are flying to Nicargua for some hands on volunteer work.

First off, the group will be spending some time at an orphanage with 37 children. time will be spent doing handcrafts with the children and giving them toothbrushes and toothpaste.

Next, volunteers are spending time at the Tomas Burge Community near the Leon dump, where most people live in plastic shacks. The community has around 200 adults and 100 children. The team is organizing a dental clinic for the community with four Nicaraguan dentists. The dental clinic will provide checkups and flouride treatments. The team will also be giving out toothbrushes and toothpaste to members of the community. Educational materials on oral health care will be shared with the children as well.

Finally, work will be done on the current project, the Troilo School. The newest classroom will be painted. Students at the high school will receive information for domestic and sexual abuse. Eye exams will be provided at the school. An event will be held with 40 mothers and children under the age of three. Plans are to gift each mother with a cinch bag complete with a washcloth, a toddler toothbrush, a comb, and a small soap.

With all of the gifts we are gifting, we still need a lot. We still need toothpaste, toothbrushes, books in english or spanish, and combs. As always, monetary donations are always welcome as well for the bigger items that need purchased such as floor pads. Your donation is tax deductible too, please consider donating today. https://www.handsforhopeinc.org/donate
