Hands for Hope, Inc. is a non-profit organization started by Christine Schrage in 2014 to serve communities in Nicaragua and Panama. It's mission is “to empower youth and communities by providing resources for educational programs to enhance the learning experience of understanding.” The population has a very low level of academic achievement and University of Northern Iowa students learn first-hand how difficult life and future development is for these individuals. The UNI program is based on service learning with projects mostly completed for youth.
